Founder/Owner

Nathan Newell

nathan@newellsevergreennursery.net

Nathan is a Lake City native and 1998 Lake City Area Schools graduate who has always had a passion for farming and nature. He obtained a Landscape & Nurseries certificate from Michigan State University via Northwestern Michigan College in 2001 and subsequently founded Newell’s Evergreen Nursery. The nursery division started from humble beginnings, handplanting 30,000 conifer seedlings that provided nursery stock for only one Christmas tree grower to now being a legitimate nursery stock provider to many Christmas tree farmers throughout the Midwest. Currently, the nursery boasts harvesting 250,000+ seedlings of various species all farmed on local soil with the goal of continued growth and crop expansion.

Newell’s Evergreen Nursery – Landscape Division was founded in 2001 out of a client-driven business model. There was a vocal need for landscape management in the greater Lake City area and the Landscape Division was born. The breadth of business has grown from irrigation installations to now including a very successful spray/fertilizer program that provides nutrition and bio-management to achieve optimum turf health, irrigation system maintenance, hardscape design/implementation and insect pest management services.

When Nathan is not working on area lawns, hardscapes or focusing on the needs of the farm, he enjoys hunting and spending time with his wife, two kids and Golden Retriever, Ruby.
